Have you ever heard stories of people getting beauty products practically for free, but you just can’t seem to figure out how they did it? Well you are in luck! Here’s a guide featuring my top 5 ways to save, that will get you in on the action too!
1. Apps: Mercari, Poshmark & More
Forget the Beauty Supply store or the drugstore, apps are now the way to go for beauty shopping. It may not seem like the ideal way to purchase your favorites and must haves, but trust me it can save you tons on top of the line products. Apps like Mercari and Poshmark allow people to sell any and everything online. It’s as simple as taking a pic and naming a price. Although some of the products are used, there are also sellers who sell brand new, original products merely because they didn't want them. I was able to get an Urban Decay Vice4 palette for over $10 less than retail price and two brand new Jeffree Star Velour Liquid lipsticks for $15 a piece. Don't just take my word for it, take a look and see what you can find!
2 . Rewards programs
If you haven’t signed up for a rewards program now is definitely the time to do so! This is the absolute best way to find out about the newest products, deals, and most importantly, coupons that stores have to offer. Retail stores like Sephora and Ulta have reward programs which offer amazing incentives like free gifts during birthdays and with some purchases; I mean who would even want to turn down free samples?! If you can, you must be a little crazy. Now is the time to become a Beauty Insider and Ultamate.
3 . Looking for Brushes? Check out Amazon or Ebay
Brushes! Brushes! And More Brushes! That seems like the only thing I hear about when I watch every tutorial. There is a different one for almost every aspect, from brows to eyeshadow to even your lips, GOOD LORD! But there is no need to fuss, this why Amazon and Ebay have become lifesavers. You can get the best brushes for ridiculously cheap prices in no time at all. I will be the first to admit, it may take a little trial and error, but hey, a bad brush just means a new face mask applicator.
4 . SAMPLING!
Spending tons of money on something that doesn’t end up working for me is always a hard pill to swallow. Luckily, if you are anything like me then you will love that most stores give away free samples! If you ever find yourself confused about a foundation color, or the right face toner for you, just walk into a beauty store and ask for a sample. Did I forget to mention they are free? So feel free to hit up as many Sephoras and Ultas as you can, as many times as you want for some extra product - it’s always worth it.
5 . Discount Sections
This one may not apply to all stores, but don’t forget to look and more importantly ask or for a discount section. I’ve managed to score some pretty good products merely because the shadow cracked or maybelline decided to one up their Great Lash mascara. As for places like Sephora, products that are newer and typically of higher price are placed at eye level so you notice them first, just look to the lower shelves. Products located here are usually older and a little cheaper than others, so don’t rush the shopping process.
6 . Find your dupe!
Dupes have and always will be the number 1 way to saving money on your must-have products during each season. More often than not, different brands come out with the same looks and shades to match the change in seasons, meaning there will often be something similar to a far lesser price. Getting the best looks doesn’t mean you have to spend the most money. Check out blogs like All In The Blush and Temptalia for dupes on some of your favorite products.
Next time you find yourself at the beauty store contemplating whether to get that new palette or moisturizer, don’t fret. There are always different ways to buy the products you want for the prices you want.
